Help & Docs
Everything you need to get the most out of HearIQ. Can't find an answer? Email us any time.
Getting started
Pin HearIQ by clicking the puzzle-piece icon next to the address bar, then hit the pin beside HearIQ.
- Press the play button that appears beside any paragraph, or select text, right-click, and choose “HearIQ (Read text)”.
- Pick a voice from the voice menu in the player. Sarah reads by default.
The listening queue
Right-click any page or selected text and choose “Save to HearIQ” to save it for later. Saved items appear in the queue panel inside the player, and playback resumes where you left off on each item.
The queue holds up to 20 items, so remove items you have finished to make room for new ones.
Keyboard shortcuts
Alt+Shift+P plays or pauses the current listen. Alt+Shift+S saves the current page or selection to your queue.
Note: Chrome binds these automatically when the extension is installed, but browser updates or conflicts with other extensions can leave them unset.
- Open
chrome://extensions/shortcutsin a new tab (Chrome does not allow direct links to it). - Find HearIQ in the list.
- Click the shortcut field next to the command.
- Press the key combination you want.
Turning HearIQ off on a site
From the player, you can disable HearIQ for the current site. The play buttons stop appearing there while everything keeps working everywhere else. Flip the same toggle to bring it back.
